Camden Association for Foster Care (CAFC).
Our association was set up in 1972 in order to provide Camden foster carers with support and advice, while sharing information on the practicalities of caring for Camden's Looked After Children. Two years later fostering network was formed and a while later International Foster Care Organisation (IFCO).
The words mean what they say Foster Cares. It was found and continues to support Camden’s carers. All Camden carers are automatic members of CAFC.
We have a committee that meets on the first Tuesday of every other month. We meet at Camden’s Town Hall, Judd Street from 7.30–9.30pm. The committee consists of Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Webmaster, Social Secretary, and seven committee members. We liaise with a Fostering Manager every three months and mediate with the fostering department on behalf of carers. CAFC is your first step when there is an allegation. Your support worker cannot help you. Fostering network won’t get involved unless you have been charged by the Police. We have trained and experienced carers, ex-foster carers with lots of experience in specialist care and ex-team managers on the phone 24/7 if you need help.
CAFC organises a Christmas party for LAC and carer's children and every June an outing to the seaside and Adventure Island.
CAFC need new members, why not come and give us a try. We pay towards baby sitting or transport. You are all welcome.
Last but not least we have our own website where you can find all the standards, Foster Carers Handbook, policies and phone numbers.
Our next meetings are: 7th March 2017, 2nd May 2017 and the June AGM.
